The University of Edinburgh, Centre of African Studies African Forum, Book Club & Poetry Café
The CAS African Forum is a student-led initiative dedicated to the furthering of knowledge and understanding of African affairs and African-orientated authors and the promotion thereof.
With the support of The University of Edinburgh Centre of African Studies, we meet regularly to discuss African-orientated literature, organise and host conferences, where international and local academics and students speak on African issues, and finally host casual poetry evenings at a local café where we unwind amid friends, food, poetry and wine.

The Poetry Café is our informal evening and is meant as a chance to unwind and socialise.
The intentions of these evenings are:
- To promote and encourage the writing and sharing of poems by our members
- To appreciate, critique and support each other’s work to improve the overall quality of the poetry offered
- To create a fun and friendly atmosphere and sense of comradery between members
- To socialise and have a great time!
