University Celebrates Julius Nyerere
On Monday 9 November the University welcomed African dignitaries in celebration of Nyerere's life, legacy and time in Edinburgh
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Julius Nyerere's death, his time as a student at the University of Edinburgh and the inaugural Nyerere Scholarships the Centre of African Studies organised three days of events.
On Monday 9 November, we welcomed Tanzanian and African dignitaries to the University to reflect on Nyerere's legacy.

On Tuesday 10 November, we hosted an Edinburgh-Tanzania day in the CMB to showcase some of the exciting research and teaching relationships that exist between the university and the country.
On Wednesday 11 November, we hosted Marie-Aude Fouéré of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Centre d’Etudes Africaines, who talked about Nyerere and commemoration in contemporary Tanzania.
