Michael Marchant winner of UNRISD Young Scholars Think Piece Series

A paper titled 'Corporate Social Responsibility and Oil in the Niger Delta' by CAS student Michael Marchant has won the prestigious United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) Young Scholars Think Piece Series prize.

Michael submitted earlier versions of this paper for Wolfgang Zeller's course Governing Mineral Extraction in Africa and presented it at the recent CAS conference on ‘Mining and Political Transformations in Africa’ organised by Sam Spiegel.

From over 70 submissions to the first edition of the Young Scholars Think Piece Series, the UNRISD jury has selected four think pieces to be published on the Institute’s web site. The jury, composed of academic experts and publication professionals, met several times to evaluate all submissions and then scrutinize the short-listed entries.

Following revision of the paper, the full text will be available via the UNRISD website:

Congratulations to Michael!
